Watchtower Asks Publishers to Turn in Old Literature
The following messages were found on the H2O Message board:
The WTBTS has sent letters to all congregations in Canada.
The letter, to be read from the platform, says that all publishers are to scour their personal library at home and locate any old books that are in good shape and return them to the literature counter for re-assignment. The books, already paid for by the publishers, will be returned to the congregation stock, to be picked up and donated for again.
... AND when this happens, others might actually sell them and the WTBTS can get a double re-contribution again!!!
That letter was read in the congregation that I attend here in Alabama. Made it sound as if they were concerned about us not wasting these publications because they could be used for placements and starting bible studies. I think that it shows they are trying to cut costs everywhere. They never print any of the new publications with hardback except for the bound volumes. I think they are not getting enough contributions to cover costs. Maybe this might show them that Jehovah is not backing them and putting his blessing on them. But why do they need to see what they already know?
There was a similar letter read here NY where they asked us to return all our mags that are still in good condition, no matter how old they were, and give them back to the magazine counter at the Hall for re-placement.
If that's not a sign that they need money, I don't know what is.
