Blood Transfusions not basis for disfellowshipping?

A Watchtower Official in Denmark, Tommy Jensen, who is chief of the Hospital Liasson Committees there, made an announcement in Danish on television (June 8) over there that persons will not be disfellowshipped from the Watchtower for taking blood transfusions. Here is the English transcript.

It appears that, in conjunction with the change in policy as written in the Watchtower of June 15, 2000. One review of this articles states, in part:

The June 15, 2000 Watchtower presents a “Questions From Readers” article that has a direct bearing on the work of AJWRB.
We have completed our initial analysis of the article and want to advise our members that we believe the article represents a very important shift in the Watchtower Society's (WTS) blood policy.

The article presents what appear as subtle changes but upon closer examination reveal very significant reforms. The WTS appears to have abandoned their policy of “major” and “minor” blood fractions in an attempt to squash the embarrassing contradictions AJWRB and others have exposed. In its place the WTS has introduced a policy that forbids JWs to accept any of the “primary” components of blood, namely red cells, white cells, platelets and plasma. Though lacking any meaningful basis to a Christian – the bible does not define what a primary or secondary component is – this new policy seems to reflect the fact that blood banks commonly separate blood in this manner.
